Madaghan’s Almost Broken Nose Update

So Laurie took Maddie to the doctor’s office yesterday for a follow up appointment, and was told that the nose is indeed broken-kinda sorta. He said children’s noses bend, don’t break, but hers still needs to be straightened out. Either we get it done now, or wait until she is older.

We decided to do it now…in fact she is having the surgery on Friday. I do not think I can watch them put the mask over her face to put her under, so I will be out in the waiting room pacing endlessly. Doctor said she only be like a half  hour and bottom line is she will grow up with a straight nose.

Wish us luck!

No good luck needed. I’m sure everything will be fine. Simple procedure.

Still tough on the parents though. Turning away from my daughter when they were wheeling her into surgery and she was crying and reaching for me and her mom was a real heartbreaker, but you all come out the other side stronger and better off.

Yeah, not looking forward to that. We went through it once when she had tubes in her ears. But the crying and reaching for us is not going to go over well. But, like you said when we come out on the other side, she’ll be better off…her nose will be fixed and be able to grow straight. 🙂

We’ll pray that everything goes well. Little Brother had surgery to drain an abscess in his “diaper area” when he was just a few months old. They gave him a little “medication cocktail” before the procedure, which rendered him pleasantly stoned (for lack of a better description), and gave us a little comic relief during an otherwise tense situation.

I swear if he could’ve talked at that point, he would’ve said something like, “I’m not mellow, man. What are you talking about, man. I’m not mellow. I need some chips.”

Thinking of you on friday. Keep us all posted. Maddie will be treated as the ” Princess of Pine Bush”

I’m sorry to hear that she has to have the surgery. I’ll be thinking of her on Friday. No doubt the whole thing will go totally smooth and she’ll be out running around the playground again soon!
