Veteran’s Day

Happy Veteran’s Day to me. I want to thank everyone that called me and thanked me for raising my right hand and swearing to defend their freedom. Was I overseas? No. Did I see combat? No.  Am I still a Vet? Yes. I served in the Navy from 1996-2000.

USS Bataan (LHD-5)

USS Bataan (LHD-5)

I was on the USS Bataan, (LHD-5) and COMOPTEVFOR, (Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force) both commands were in Norfolk, Virgina. After I graduated from Intelligence Specialist “A” School, I requested Iceland or Japan commands. What did I get? Norfolk, Virgina.  I very much wanted to go overseas.  If we were at war, I would have went.  I dedicated four years of my life to the Navy.

So thanks to all who called me. Here is a list of friends and family that called me:

End of list.

As a fellow Navy vet, I can sympathize with the tour of duty location. I asked for the east coast and was sent to San Diego. At least I did get to spend two lovely Westpacs touring all of Asias swinging night spots.
