GE Repairman

So around 4pm the GE repair man arrived. I got a phone call from GE around 3:30. It was automatic recording informing I was next! I could not believe it! He showed up and fixed the automatic defroster element. Of course it was not covered under warranty, but we did get the part at a pro-rated price. Half hour and 108 dollars later the fridge was working.  GE sends their own factory trained people out to fix their appliances. Sure, one would think if they built it right in the first place, you wouldn’t need techs. But, GE got the service calls right. I did not even have to call a 1-800 number. I even made the appointment online! GE restored my faith in service calls, and the next appliance we buy will be a GE.

Here is a picture from partswizard.com of the defrost assembly. The glass tube on mine was shattered from, well, to be honest, poor craftsmanship. The new assembly that was installed has two glass tubes. If GE knew the assembly sucked so much to warrant a new design, why was I charged 100 bucks? Anyway, I will still buy GE all because of the “Your Next” call.

GE Refrigerator Broken

Yesterday, Laurie and I noticed the hot dogs in the freezer were not solid. I said:”That’s peculiar”. Perhaps the freezer is in some sort of defrost cycle? I noticed ice crystals on the back wall-this was not looking good. I busted out the instruction manual and it stated a drain might be clogged. I poured hot water down the drain as per instructions and nothing. 24 hours later, hotdogs are soggy and the fridge is warm. I called GE this morning at 8:05 am and spoke with “Jessica” and a service tech will be at the house tomorrow between 8am and 5pm.  Another day off from work.  Will GE show up tomorrow?  Will it be covered under warranty? GE has the chance to restore my faith in service calls (Harmon Pellet Stove Nightmare) Stay tuned….

12th Man

As a follow up to my Supporting the Economy post, I wanted you to know that I finally heard back from UPS! I sent them an email complimenting Patrick’s performance as a Driver and here is the email I got back:
UPS driver compliment,

UPS driver compliment

I hope he gets so much recognition and  he will be so moved that he copies my email, tapes it into his locker and like the 12th man at Texas A&M, he will feel a powerful connection between driver and customers.
