Mani and a Pedi for Maddie

As a reward for her recent behavior achievements, (putting herself to sleep) Madaghan was rewarded with Manicure. And…..of course, A Pedicure.

I am in deeeep shit.

Madaghan’s New Suite-Update

After my free Veteran’s Day steak at Texas Roadhouse, Maddie and I headed over to Lumber Liquidators to pick her wood floor. Thinking that the wood planks came in a box that could easily fit into the Saturn, I decided not to borrow a pick up truck. Wrong decision. The planks come wrapped in ties and weigh about 80 pounds each bundle.  Maddie and I left Lumber Liquidators empty handed….

First Day of Kindergarten!!

I interrupt your regulary scheduled blog with some breaking news:

Madaghan started Kindergarten today!!

Off we go!

Is the Jeep sticker trying to tell us something?

One small step for Maddie, one giant leap for the parents

One last blurry pic

The first day in a word was: chaotic. The school, to us, seemed to be on auto-pilot. Kids running around willy-nilly, no one really sure where to go. Laurie and I were not all that comfortable leaving Madaghan. But, perhaps it is just us being rookie parents? Perhaps it is an organized chaos?  To us, if Madaghan at any point said:” fuck it, I am outta here” and just got up and left, no one would notice. Scary. We are lucky Maddie is a smart, tough girl.

Madaghan’s Vegetable Stand

On Saturday, we brought down Harvest 2011 to Laurie’s parents house on Long Island:

The plan was to set up a Vegetable & Lemonade Stand for Madaghan so she can sell the vegetables from her garden and of course, she would keep all the money she made.

First, Laurie made a sign and put it on the car window that was parked right out in front :

Next, we got the stand ready. Ok, it was a piece of plywood on sawhorses covered by a tablecloth, but really, what else do you need?

Yes, that is Madaghan under the table

Next, we brought out all the vegetables and set them on the table:

Open!

But before we officially open, we must do a practice run:

Finally, before the first customer arrives,  what do  you do for last minute preparation? Brush your hair of course!:

Gotta...get....the knots...out...

After the practice run, the dress is on and the hair is brushed, we are now open for business:

May I offer you some squash?

First Customer!!

Second customer! (Jemma from next door!)

After the second customer, I stopped taking pictures because…we got busy! Holy cow Long Islanders looove their vegetables! Even the pickles at $5 bucks a jar sold out!

Laurie's Home Made pickles!

Sold out!! (mostly)

When all was said and done,  only half the lemonade remained, a few butternut squash and the weird looking tomatoes remained.

Maddie walked away with 50 bucks!

Madaghan Graduates Pre-K!

On Friday, June 24 Madaghan achieved a milestone. She went to the spa! I am kidding. Today she graduated from pre-K to Kindergarten. I bet you did not know there was a ceremony for this sort of thing, but there is.

But before we get to the main event, we must make a pit stop at the day spa. Around 11am, Laurie took Madaghan to the Pineapple Day Spa for hair and nail appointment:

Getting her hair done at Pineapple Day Spa

Anything but corn rows, thanks.
Finishing touches on the make up. Holy shit I am in trouble.

I'm ready for my close-up!

After the day spa it was off to the ceremony at the pre school.  Maddie went off into her classroom and Laurie, myself Mi-Ma and Poppy all waited outside because no one was allowed into the make shift gym until 1:30 and since it was 1:20, you could see the school was really a stickler for the rules. I like that. Especially when certain family members were allowed in and others were not. I like inconsistency in when it comes to enforcing the rules even better then I like silly rules. Some families can only bring 6 guests as clearly stated in the forms sent home while other families, only the special one can bring 12..no problem. You. Are. Special.

Where was I? Oh the ceremony…

The stage is set. Sorry....the floor is set.

All the graduate's names are on the cake. Maddie's name is bottom-right.

Madaghan lined up for her diploma.

But first! A musical number. It is called a tooty ta or some shit like that. It was cute, funny and Maddie really let her performance shine through:

Singing a song..

And now the big moment……Maddie gets her diploma! Whoo Hoo!
