Maddie Second Ski

We got up around 10am and headed out for Maddie’s second day of skiing.  This time, Maddie had her very own skis and boots. She thought she was the Snow Princess. We headed for the bunny hill and saw that it had a tow rope. Laurie and I were relieved that we would not have drag Maddie back up the hill time and time again.

Here are the girls after two trips down the hill:

Done.

Done.

The tow rope did not go so well.  Maddie was terrified of the tow rope so we had to drag her up the hill. Not as easy as it sounds. The first time is ok, but the six and seventh no so easy. Does not help that Maddie would lean back and we would be dragging her up. What a site we must have been.

One of the funniest site is being right in front of a toddler as she is barreling down the hill at 100 mph. Holy cow is it funny. Eyes wide open, screaming, hands up in the air, nothing but fear. Oh so funny.

Maddie’s First Ski Lesson

Will Maddie ever ski the K-2?

Will Maddie ever ski the K-2?

Madaghan had her first skii lesson this morning. At first when we got there, she wanted nothing to do with the skiis. The boots were ok, but she screamed when Vicky, the instructor, tried to put her on skiis. Laurie and I were watching from a distance,  because we believe that she listens to the instructors better when we are not around. We like to let the professionals do their thing and we just stay out of the way. I snapped a quick pic from out of Maddie’s sight.

Maddie screaming, refusing to put the skiis on, running away from Vicky went on until Maddie’s first break. Lucky for us, included in the price of the one on one lesson was lunch and coloring book time. This was ingenious because after Maddie had some food and took a break, she was all set to go again. She even made a deal with Laurie that she promised to listen to Vicky and be good.

Here is a picture Laurie snapped right after the break:

What a differance hot chocolate and a little coloring makes! Maddie was starting to get it! This next picture shows Maddie listening to Vicky explain the concept of french fries and pizza.

Go that way really fast, if something gets in your way.....turn

French fries is the shape the skiis make when they are straight. Pizza is the shape the skiis make in the snow when the toes are pointed together. Another words, french fries equals go!, pizza equals stop!!. Knowing this tidbit of information will help you, dear reader of this blog, understand why it is that Laurie screams “Pizza” a couple hundred times in the video below.  The video will play while loading, making it kind of choppy…so you might have to replay it after it is done. The second time should be ok.
